The Head of the Institute of Gastroenterology, Rabin Medical Center is Professor Yaron Niv (prof. Yaron Niv), a chairman of Israel Gastroenterology Association. Professor Niv is an author of above 200 scientific articles, an editor of a number of leading gastroenterology journals. Professor Niv is a foremost authority in the field of colonorectal cancer and its prevention in Israel. Professor Niv plays a key role in the formation of such important directions of Israeli healthcare as gastroenterology, gastroesophageal reflux disease, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy and others.

Departments of the Institute of Gastroenterology:
The Department of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases under the direction of Dr. Gerald Freizer was established for rendering special medical services to patients suffering from  Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis . At the Department, early diagnostics and treatment of malignant neoplasms in gastrointestinal tract (esophagus, stomach, intestines, pancreas) are performed.

At the Department of Endoscopy under the direction of Dr. Alex Geller, a leading specialist in endoscopy in Israel who underwent training and probation in Mayo Clinic (USA), along with conventional endoscopic procedures, of active use are special endoscopic techniques, such as ERCP, endoscopic USI, biopsy and stenting.

The Department of Neurogastroenterology under the direction of Dr. Ram Dickman is specialized in diagnostics and treatment of gastrointestinal problems, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease and irritable bowel syndrome. At the Department, a wide range of patient investigations are performed: manometry, рН-monitoring, defecography and others.
